Winter in Vieques, Puerto Rico hosts a wealth of fallen seed pods and tropical fruit leaves, as part of the regenerative cycle of life on the island. Gathering samples from a variety of species, I ship them back to my Vermont studio to create custom still life photographs of the dried objects upon returning home. I imagine these botanical beings as families who’ve fallen, yet remain together. Digital photographs are made and then transferred to fabric, suggestive of an after-image revealed on a shroud.
